城墙的实与虚

设计将传统城墙的内部实体与石砖面内外反转，在城墙内部形成了城墙的虚空间，使自然光能够到达蓄水池地下层。同时作为城墙的展示空间和博物馆主要公共交通空间。弧形的城墙空间嵌入原蓄水池，带来了光与视线的变化，使参观者仿佛回到了旧时城墙的时空之中。

On the site of an abandoned reservoir in Nanjing’s Stone City, we aim to use “light” as a medium to connect the present with the past, the above-ground with the below-ground, and nature with heritage. Guided by light as a thread, we seek to evoke visitors’ imagination of both history and the future, and to untangle the interweaving of time and space throughout the journey of exploration.

The entrance structure serves both as a relic and a carrier of the city. Centered around the original ventilation chamber of the reservoir, the design extends outward to form two vertical curved walls, creating an illusory city-wall void that spans both above and below ground. This allows natural light to penetrate the underground space, offering visitors a place to reflect on the memory of Stone City.
